El Barrio de las Letras

Today was a great day! It started off as a very rainy chilly morning but turned out to be beautiful weather in the afternoon. We first had classes at CENP where we talked about Las Islas Canarias (The Canary Islands) while using and practicing the future tense. We also discussed differences in dietary habits in the U.S. and Spain. In Spain they eat dessert like things for breakfast, have a snack (which is similar to our lunch) around 11:00, have lunch around 2:30 and then dinner around 9:30. When we were finished class for the day, don Antonio, Sr. Bautista and Sra. Lopez picked us up and we took the metro to walk around El Barrio de las Letras. It was beautiful! There were pretty buildings and decorations throughout all of the streets. We all had a great time and took lots of pictures. We stopped at a tapas place for lunch and we all had great food, tried new things and had an authentic Spain style meal. During our lunch we all talked to each other about random things which I think is bringing us closer together as a group. After walking through El Barrio de las Letras, we took a tour bus around Madrid and saw different places and parts of Madrid that we haven´t seen before. I am really excited to go back to that area tomorrow to see more places and do some shopping!!




¡Hoy fue un gran día! Estaba lloviendo esta mañana, pero por la tarde resultó hacer mejor tiempo. Primero tuvimos clases en CENP donde hablamos sobre Las Islas Canarias (Las Islas Canarias) usando y practicando el tiempo futuro. También discutimos las diferencias en los hábitos dietéticos de los Estados Unidos y de España. Cuando terminaron las clases por el día, don Antonio, el Sr. Bautista y la Sra. López nos recogieron y nos llevaron a la estación de metro para caminar por el Barrio de las Letras. ¡Fue hermoso! Había edificios bonitos y decoraciones por todas partes de las calles. Todos nos lo pasamos muy bien y tomamos muchas fotos. Nos detuvimos en un lugar de tapas para el almuerzo y todos comimos una gran comida, probando cosas nuevas y comiendo un almuerzo al estilo español auténtico. Durante el almuerzo, todos hablamos el uno con el otro sobre cosas al azar, lo cual nos unió más como grupo. Después de caminar por el Barrio de las Letras, tomamos un autobús de gira por Madrid y vimos diferentes lugares y zonas de Madrid que todavía no habíamos visto antes. ¡Estoy muy emocionada de volver a esa zona mañana para ver más lugares e ir de compras!
