Today was our second day here in Madrid, and our first day exploring the city as a group. We started the day with classes at 10:00 am by meeting our teachers and celebrating Morgan´s birthday with some balloons, a card signed by the entire group, and a present from the teachers. Happy birthday to Morgan! Then, we took a placement test to divide our group by levels for when we take classes tomorrow. Despite being a little jetlagged and tired, everybody did well, and afterwards we relaxed and ate the lunches that our very kind families packed for us before we left while our teachers pulled each of us aside one by one to assess us orally. At 2:00 pm, Sr. Bautista, Sra. Lopez, y Don Antonio picked us up and we walked to the nearest metro station where we caught a train to go to Madrid´s river, el Río Manzanares. We walked along the river to a place where we rented four person carts that used bicycle pedals to move, while our teachers rented smaller one-person carts. We had a lot of fun bicycling around the pathway that lines the river, and Morgan was very nice to treat us all to ice cream for her birthday. It was very sunny and hot, so we all welcomed this nice break. Around 5:30 pm we started walking back to the metro station and going our separate ways depending on where we live in the city. As we were all sweaty and tired, everybody was excited to take a cold shower and relax with their families. Today was long and a little tiring, but we all had fun and are very excited to start classes tomorrow.
Hoy ha sido el segundo día aquí en la ciudad de Madrid, y el primer día que exploramos la ciudad como un grupo. Empezamos el día con clase a las 10:00 de la mañana, y conocimos a nuestros profesores y celebramos el cumpleaños de Morgan con globos, una tarjeta que todas habíamos firmado, y un regalo de los profesores. ¡Feliz cumpleaños a Morgan! Después, tomamos un examen para dividirnos en niveles para el próximo día. Parte del examen fue oral, y mientras las profesores hablaban con cada estudiante individualmente, nosotras hablábamos y comíamos nuestros almuerzos que nuestras familias tan simpáticas nos habían hecho. A las 2:00 de la tarde, el Sr. Bautista, la Sra. Lopez, y don Antonio vinieron para recogernos y fuimos al metro. Anduvimos por el sendero cerca del Río Manzanares a una tiende donde alquilamos bicicletas para cuatro personas. Disfrutamos mucho de montar en bicicleta por el sendero, y Morgan era muy simpática y nos invito a un helado a todas. Hacía mucho calor y sol, y por eso el helado fue perfecto para un receso. A las 5:30, regresamos al metro y fuimos a nuestras casas. Todas estabamos muy cansadas, y estábamos listas para ducharnos y descansar con nuestras familias. Hoy era muy largo, pero todas disfrutamos y estamos muy emocionadas de empezar las clases mañana.
